Albert Einstein said that if the bees were to disappear, the world would be destroyed in a few years.
In the 1950s, American scientists found that the number of eggs laid by some species of eagle, hawk, and vulture was decreasing. They continued to research what was the reason for this.
When scientists took all the eggs of these birds and examined
them, they found many startling information. Some eggs had thin shells and some
had no shells at all. This revealed that the embryo of the egg was in an unsafe
condition.
It has been revealed that the number of eggs laid by large
birds is decreasing and the egg shells are thin due to the use of the chemical
DDT and pesticides in agriculture because when pesticides are sprayed in the
fields, it affects insects, mice, frogs, etc., which are preyed upon by large
birds. Due to this, large birds are affected and their natural characteristics
are reduced. At the same time, small birds are not affected much by ordinary
insecticides. The eggs they lay are the same as ever. Why this is so has
remained a mystery to scientists.
Pesticides and chemicals sprayed on the fields do not
completely lose their properties, which are washed away during floods and end
up in the sea. The effects of these drugs are also seen in Antarctic penguins.
It has not yet been
fully studied why it affects the body even in humans and thus whether it
affects humans. The US and some other countries have banned the use of chemical
pesticides. But in some countries, pesticides are still used in large
quantities, which can affect all species of birds. All migratory native birds
are likely to be affected by pesticides used in a country. So it is better to
avoid using chemical pesticides.
If we protect nature, nature will protect us. It cannot be
ignored that birds and insects play a major role in agriculture. Because among
insects there are also beneficial insects and it is because of these beneficial
insects that agriculture flourishes and yields increase. So taking insects as a
whole is dangerous.
